Nominate Impactful Alumni for the HKS BAA Honors

Nominate Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) alumni who have made significant contributions to their profession and the Black community in the U.S. and the world for a HKS Black Alumni Association (BAA) Honor. Harvard alumni, staff, and faculty should submit nominations to the HKS BAA Selection committee at HKSblackalumni@gmail.com by February 22, 2023. Winners will be announced at the HKS Black Policy Conference.

The HKS BAA will proudly recognize one exceptional alum in the following categories: The Virtuosity Honor (recognizing alumni who have made significant contributions early in their career) and the Distinguished Achievement Honor (recognizing alumni who contributions spanned a longer career).

Any HKS degree or certificate holder (regardless of race, program, or profession) whose work enhanced their profession and advanced the knowledge, condition, or experience of the Black community may be nominated. A letter of nomination (any length) for each nominee should include: the nominator and nominee’s contact information and Harvard affiliation; the nominator’s affiliation to the nominee; and a description of the nominee’s professional, volunteer/civic involvement, and awards (if known) as well as a description of how the nominee exemplifies the Kennedy School mission through professional or personal accomplishments.

The Virtuosity Honor:

This honor acknowledges the contributions of recent graduates (graduated less than 7 years) who made significant contributions in their personal or professional capacities that serve the public good or that benefits the Black community through accomplishment, service, or activism.  Alums of the mid-career degree program are not eligible.

Distinguished Achievement Honor:

This honor acknowledges alums who have demonstrated distinction in their career field or other area of interest. This alum has made significant contributions that set the standard in their profession, serve the public good, or benefit the Black community through accomplishment, service, or activism.
