The Supreme Court will soon issue decisions in two cases concerning the use of race as a factor to promote diversity in U.S. colleges and universities. In anticipation of the decisions, The Coalition for a Diverse Harvard invites BAA members to raise our voices together and attend or support the following events:
Supreme Court Decision Day press conference at 12:30 pm ET. Let's raise our voices together on Decision Day in front of the Supreme Court and hear from some of the leaders in these cases in a 12:30 p.m. ET press conference. Client-only virtual briefing. The NAACP LDF will brief at 8:30 pm on Decision Evening. Please sign up here with a permanent email address (not a Harvard one).
Harvard Yard rally. Meet at 2 pm on the Saturday after the affirmative action decisions are released. Rain location: Phillips Brooks House.
2 pm - Meet at the John Harvard statue to pick up and customize your tee shirt and meet community members.
2:15 pm - Move to the Science Center Plaza to hear our great speakers. A march and an open mic will follow! Sign up here to receive last-minute details. Harvard student members of the Coalition for a Diverse Harvard and other amici groups have planned an awesome rally and invited the media. Documentarian Evangeline Mitchell Ed.M. '01 will be there with a camera person to interview student leaders, alumni, and attendees regarding their reactions and feelings about the decision.
