Goals for the HKS BAA: I sought re-election to the Vice President position of the HKS BAA because of my deep interest in furthering the progress the Board has made in recent years. I have had the good fortune of serving with an outstanding, highly engaged Board dedicated to advancing the HKS BAA mission. As the HKS BAA Vice President, I am primarily responsible for programming and member engagement. I am proud to have been a part of the many successful virtual events over the past 18 months featuring notable Black alums and others who enlightened and inspired the BAA community with rich dialog. As a strong team, the BAA Board of Directors has grown the membership, enhanced our branding and reach, and deepened our connection to the faculty and Administration.
Connection with HKS: In addition to serving as the BAA VP, I was an active member of the Harvard Club of Austin for 16 years during which time I served in various capacities including as a member of the Board of Directors for 7 years, and as President for 3 years. I participated in Harvard’s Global Month of Service 8 years, chairing the event 5 times. For the past 3 years, I have been affiliated with the Harvard Club of Houston. In 2004, I chaired our official HKS 10-year class reunion. The alumni activity I enjoy most is working with young students as they prepare for college. I participated on the Schools and Scholarship Committee, interviewing candidates to Harvard College for the past 20 years, representing the College at college fairs and hosting numerous receptions for admitted students. It has been my pleasure and privilege to engage in outreach activities with both students and schools in disadvantaged communities to prepare students for college – as candidates to Harvard or elsewhere.
